The Greenwood, Konawa Ok. looked to be a low scoring affair that is until the Bulldog’s bats came to life in the third inning of the game. Greenwood Konawa last week 7-0.

The Greenwood Bulldogs scored in the third inning on a three-run triple by Peyton Holt, an RBI double by Connor Noland, and a walk by Blaise Lomon. Jax Burgess had a hot bat for the Bulldogs. Burgess went 2-3 and scored two runs. He also singled in the third and fifth innings. The Greenwood Bulldogs’ Cody Smith kept Konowa off the scoreboard. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on five hits while striking out four.

The Bulldogs brought home one run in the fifth inning, and matched that run total in the sixth. In the fifth, the Bulldogs scored on a sacrifice fly by Lomon, scoring Burgess.

Greenwood 3, Catholic 5

It was a different story for the Diamond Dogs on Thursday when they hit the wall against Catholic in a double header. Greenwood pitcher Ryan Daggs had a rough outing walking five, and allowing four runs in the second inning.

A one-run fourth inning helped bring the Greenwood Bulldogs within three. A passed ball triggered the Greenwood Bulldogs’ comeback. But, the Catholic pitcher got Blaise Lomon to ground out to end the inning.

After pushing across one run in the top of the fifth, the Greenwood Bulldogs faced just a 4-2 deficit. After a quick strike from the Greenwood Bulldogs, Catholic responded with one run in the sixth. Catholic scored on a wild pitch.

Greenwood 0, Catholic 3

The Bulldogs were two hit in the second game of the night striking out 12 times against the Catholic pitcher. Connor Noland ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted three innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.

Catholic went up for good in the third, scoring two runs on an error and a sacrifice fly by Joe Myers.

The Bulldogs will travel to face Shiloh Christian on Mar. 28 before returning home for a four game home stand against Bryant, Siloam Springs, Conway and Alma.
