Helen Everee Harper, 87, of Booneville, Arkansas, passed from this life on Sunday, July 1, 2018 in Booneville, Arkansas. She was the widower of Leon Harper. They shared 35 years of marriage together.
Born in Rison, Arkansas, she was the daughter of share croppers, Thomas Even Lunsford and Alma (Reeves) Lunsford. Helen attended the school until the age of nine years old and left school to raise her brothers and a sister. Helen’s mother contracted Tuberculosis and was admitted to the Booneville Sanatorium for 12 years where she passed away from her disease. Helen never regretted her decision.
Helen met and married Harold Morrison and they had two daughters. Helen worked various jobs from food service to finally owning and operating a poultry farm for OK Foods. Helen retired and never could quit raising chickens. She had a rooster named Obama and a hen named Michelle, red hens named Republicans and red and black hens named Democrats. She could tell you all kinds of funny stories about her flock of chickens.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents before mentioned; a daughter, Phyllis Pirraglia; four brothers, Charles, Jack, Thomas and Sammy Lunsford.
A private graveside service was held at Mixon Cemetery near Booneville under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Marlene Brown (Mark) of Booneville; one sister, Carol Jean Osborne of Booneville; one brother, Alphus Lunsford (Mildred) of Fort Smith; three grandsons, Markey, Jordan and Gary; and five great- grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
A very special “thank you” to Berniece for loving and caring for my mother. Thank you to all who have known and loved my mother. She passed knowing that she was loved by many.
