Criston E. McClain, a former Greenwood High School student, joined the U.S. Navy shortly after graduation. He is currently stationed in Gulfport, MS with the Navy Mobile Construction Battalion One where he resides with his wife Elizabeth and their two children, Tobyn and Sara.

McClain is the son of Neil and Marilyn Webb of Greenwood and the grandson of Bill and Betty McClain of Jenny Lind. He was recently promoted to the rank of Chief Petty Officer (E-7). He was also selected as Senior Sailor of the Year and nominated and awarded the coveted Fighting Seabee Award from the National Historical Foundation for his outstanding work while deployed to Kenya, Africa. He was in charge of a detachment of 32 Seabees in the construction of a runway extension that would allow U.S. Forces and allies to land at night and in inclement weather. This award was presented to him at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, Calif. Michael Reagan, son of former President, Ronald Reagan, was the guest speaker at the gala in honor of his father.
