On March 8, 2013, Jordan Mahan was awarded the Jim Lindsey Scholarship by the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame during the 55th Annual Induction Ceremony. The scholarship committee selected the recipient based on an essay about the impact that athletics had made on her life. The scholarship was awarded to one male and one female athlete in Arkansas.
Nancy Williams, the secretary of the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors, stated that Jordan’s essay was the only essay that has ever been selected as the unanimous winner by the awarding committee members. Jordan’s essay included quotes from her high school basketball coach, Clay Reeves and her essay outlined the life skills that athletics had taught her.
Jordan Mahan will be attending the University of Central Arkansas in the Fall. She is the daughter of Martin and Jo Ann Mahan of Greenwood, Ark.
