The National Beta Club recently announced that Michelle Huynh has been named a Beta Scholar, which entitles her to a scholarship award of $1000. Huynh, a senior at Greenwood High School is one of 226 recipients chosen out of 73,278 twelfth grade members of the 8,500 chapters of the National Beta Club. She plans to attend Hendrix University in Conway, Arkansas. She was recommended for this award by the local Beta Club sponsor, JoElla Skaggs (presenting scholarship) and high school principal, Jerry Efurd. Michelle Huynh is the daughter of Thuy and Philip Huynh. While attending GHS, Michelle was a member of the GHS Band, the GHS Beta Club, National Honor Society, Student Council, and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. She also attended the MASH program, is a Sparks Hospital Volunteer and attended Governorís School last summer. The National Beta Club is the nationís largest independent youth organization. The organization recognizes academic achievement, encourages services to others and promotes the development of good character and leadership skills.
