Garrett Napier, 16, of Greenwood Boy Scout Troop 54, received his Eagle Scout Award on January 28, 2013. He will be honored at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor at First Baptist Church of Greenwood on April 6 at 2 p.m. followed by a reception at the ROC.
To earn Scouting’s highest award, Garrett earned 41 merit badges, served as a leader in his troop, and completed a major community service project. Garrett’s service project was to construct four stretching stations along Greenwood’s walking trail. Garrett led his project with the assistance of eighteen scouts and seven adults.
Garrett is the first scout to achieve the Eagle rank in Troop 54 under Scoutmaster Rod Powell, and the troop is chartered to the Greenwood Masonic Lodge. Garrett is a member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood and is also a sophomore at Greenwood High School, where he participates in the band.
Garrett is the son of Jesse and Pam Napier of Greenwood, the brother of Eagle Scout Ryan Napier, the grandson of Grace Napier and the late Welza Napier and the late Albert McCutcheon and Irma Taff of Waldron.
