Gail and Bethany Hamilton, a mother-daughter team from Greenwood, have opened a new clothing store in Greenwood.

Shop Persnickety is located at 1740 West Center Street, Suite A and are open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. They are also open on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The name was chosen when Bethany’s sister went to Europe and stayed with a family there. "The family told her she could not take a shower after 8 p.m. because the neighbors were ‘persnickety.’ It stuck with her and is now her favorite vocabulary word," Bethany recalls. "We all thought it had a good ring to it."

Shop Persnickety carries a wide variety of women’s clothing, jewelry, accessories and boots. They carry a limited number of each item, providing original pieces of clothing. "I knew when I was in high school, I would always need something to wear last minute, but I never had the time or gas money to drive to Fort Smith," Bethany explained. "We wanted to provide good prices, so our customers can get a full outfit for under $100." New items are rolled out weekly (on Friday), although stock will be updated on Tuesday as well through the holidays. Shirts range in price from $22 to $38, pants and leggings from $12 to $38 while jewelry and other accessories range from $8 to $26.

The new store also provides gift wrapping and Shop Persnickety will be open for the Greenwood Christmas Open House on December 8 (See Special in our December 4 edition). They will have lots of new items along with finger foods and holiday cheer.
