The Artist of the Month for January is Geta Hershberger. Her artwork will be displayed this month at Greenwood City Hall. Ms. Hershberger studied basic design and watercolor at the College of the Redwoods in California. She has studied with many nationally known artists such as Alan Sanborn. He taught her to see with an artist’s eye. Ms. Hershberger has received many awards in northern California with her greatest achievement being an award with the California National Watercolor Association.
Ms. Hershberger believes that God is the Master Creator, the Artist of Artists, Creator of Light and Beauty. He has blessed her with the love of painting. Ms. Hershberger shares some artist’s wisdom. She says the most important thing for an artist to do is forever remain a student, always learning. She says, when you think you have arrived, you might as well hang up your brush and put away your paints, for you will never progress beyond that point.
Nina Looper’s paintings will be displayed this month at Bancorp South Bank. Ms. Looper is a longtime resident of Greenwood and has contributed much to the community with her art.
