Clean out your closets and prepare for the Community Wide Yard

Sale on Sept. 14 and 15. This event is sponsored by your community newspaper The Greenwood Democrat.

Visitors come from all over the state to bargain hunt for knick knacks, tools and antiques.

We hope our guests will take the time to shop in our stores, eat in our restaurants and buy gas

as well and give our local economy a shot in the arm.

Area non-profit organizations have set up on the gazebo in the square in years past.

Parks Director Nathan Neighbors stated that he sees no issue with nonprofits having their sale

in gazebo but should contact him. Neighbors can be reached at city hall at 806-2241.

This weekend is also a great time for local brick and mortar stores to hold sidewalk sales and specials to draw in the influx of visitors to the community.

Greenwood has had a community yard sale for last 17 years and hope this is the best one yet. The Greenwood Democrat will have a special insert in the paper on Wednesday, Sept 12 with a list of the yard sales that purchase an ad along with a map of the city.

If you are interested in placing an ad or have questions please call us 996-4494 or come by our kiosk in Central Mall near Payless Shoes. An ad displaying your address only will cost $10, your address and a description (30 words

or less) will run $15 and a business listing 2”x2” will cost $20.

Deadline to place your ad will be Friday Sept 7. The sale will run two days starting Friday morning Sept 14 beginning at 8 am.

If you have leftover items from your sale that you wish to donate to the Paralyzed Veterans Thrift Store you may box up or bag your items and drop them off at the Town Square on Saturday between 3 pm and 4 pm.

All donations are tax deductible and receipts will be given for all items accepted.
