Entering into the final week of August and all of Greenwood knows what that means. Tis the season, for Greenwood High School Football. Coming into the first week with a 13 game win streak as well as another impressive State Championship victory over Pine Bluff last year, the Bulldogs are going to start the season off with their first game against Northside Friday. Head Football Coach Rick Jones stated that it is going to be difficult, “They’re a fast team, with 16 returning starters,” said Jones.
When questioned about the other teams across the season he responded with, “We’re worried about Northside, and the week after that we’ll be worried about Southside. We’re not worried about anyone else .”
According to Jones the Bulldogs are not going to concern themselves with the State Championship game just yet, they will be taking it one week at a time.
With ten starters returning, five on the offense, and five on the defense, the Bulldogs have a solid team despite the loss of All-State Quarterback, Connor Nolan, and All-State Running Back, Kenny Wood. But Coach Jones is confident in their replacements.
