Troy DeBill, an art teacher at White Hall Middle School, attended a celebration March 8 marking his National Certification achievement.

He received the certification in December and was among honorees at a reception hosted by the Arkansas Department of Education at Little Rock. DeBill certified in Early Adolescence through Young Adult Art, according to a news release.

The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards celebrated the recent group of teachers along with nearly 20,000 teachers currently pursuing board certification, seen as the profession’s mark of accomplished practice, according to the release.

“I couldn’t be more proud of this year’s class of renewed NBCTs,” Peggy Brookins, NBCT and president and chief executive officer of the National Board, said. “These teachers have proven that they teach to the highest standards – and 10 years later, they have put in the work to show their commitment to their practice and to their students. Research makes clear that their students are the true beneficiaries.”
