The Greenwood Bulldogs baseball team has been practicing and playing hard all season long with one goal in mind – take state.

Going into the final two games of the season – against Alma on May 5 and at Bryant on May 8 – the Bulldogs were on the bubble when it came to qualifying for the Class 6A state tournament, which begins May 14-16 at Texarkana High School.

"I feel good about the rest of the season as long as we continue to work and play hard," senior pitcher Kylar Watson said.

Greenwood was 9-10 overall and 3-8 in the 7A/6A Central Conference going into the final two games. Greenwood was tied with Alma and Siloam Springs at for second at 2-3 among 6A Central teams.

One of those teams will be left out of the state tournament. Russellville already had clinched one of the three playoff spots.

"The season has been pretty good," Watson said. "We still have a lot of work to do."
