The science department at Greenwood High School recently awarded the CB Smith Science scholarship for $500 to senior, Joseph Schneider. The selection is based on the student’s academic achievement in honors science courses. The scholarship is awarded in memory of CB Smith who served as superintendent of Greenwood Public Schools from 1924-1951.
Joseph is the son of Carl and Christine Schneider. He will graduate with an Honors Diploma and plans on attending Harding to major in Biochemistry. Schneider is currently ranked first in his senior class. He is involved in Band, Quiz Bowl, Beta Club, and National Honors Society. He is also very active in the community, volunteering through his church, Eagle Scouts and school activities.
"Science classes have always been some of my favorite classes at Greenwood, and have greatly influenced me. Each has shown me a slightly different aspect of science, and each teacher has helped me in understanding it and having a passion for it," wrote Schneider in his essay.
