Kristin Carter and Shawna Fowler have opened a Western Chic boutique "The Whistln Dixie" at 6 Town Square in Greenwood. The shop features women’s rodeo / western wear, custom t-shirts, and many accessories. The store has a down home country feel from the saddle in the window to the rustic sign hanging above the store.
Carter and Fowler are "Greenwood girls" growing up here and graduating together from GHS. The two have been friends forever and they spoke about doing each other’s hair with the hose in the backyard when they were kids. "We are proud to be Greenwood Natives. We have been neighbors since 1st grade." The pair spent summers playing with barbies, hair salon, and capture the flag. The two have always loved playing dress up.
The idea for the business was hatched over dinner one evening. They talked about how great it would be to own their own store. "And now here we are!"
Fowler and Carter both love clothes and the Western Style. Both girls are into rodeo and enjoy watching their kids in different events. They always thought that Greenwood could use a good Western Wear boutique. The store also carries other boutique clothing for women and children. The Whistln Dixie also offers custom shirts and much more. "We love Greenwood and we are excited for this opportunity. We couldn’t have done it without the support of our families. The store is now open M-F from 10-6 pm and on Saturday from 10-4. They can be reached at 996-0868.
