The Greenwood Police Department responded to a report of an assault to a Walmart employee at approximately 7:00pm on June 2, 2015. Upon arrival officers spoke with a loss prevention employee who stated that he was choked to the point of losing consciousness. Officers reviewed video footage and were able to obtain video evidence of the incident. The police department posted a still shot of the suspect on Facebook this morning and were able to identify him through this information. The suspect was tracked down in the company of his Army recruiter and was taken into custody.
Richard Maciel, 23, of Hackett was transported to the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center and was booked in on charges of Robbery and Aggravated Assault. The Walmart loss prevention employee received minor abrasions from the incident. The Greenwood Police Department was assisted in the apprehension by the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Department.
