Members of the UAFS athletics coaching staff will conduct several summer sports camps for children of all ages and interests throughout the summer months.

Men’s Basketball

l UAFS men’s basketball coach Josh Newman will conduct two individual skills camps this summer for boys entering first-ninth grades. The first session will be June 11-13 from 1-4 p.m. at the Stubblefield Center, and the second session will be July 14-16 from 9 a.m.-noon at the Stubblefield Center.

The skills camp will focus on the fundamentals of shooting, ball-handling, passing defense and rebounding.

The elite camp will help student-athletes maximize their skills while they compete against other elite student-athletes. UAFS players and coaches will serve as camp staff.

Cost is $90 per overnight camper per session and includes room, board and a T-shirt. Cost is $60 per commuter camper per session and includes a T-shirt. Women’s Basketball

l UAFS women’s basketball coach Louis Whorton will conduct two individual shooting camps this summer for girls entering third-eighth grades. The first session will be June 4-6 from 9 a.m.-noon at the Stubblefield Center, and the second session will be Aug. 4-6 from 9 a.m.-noon at the Stubblefield Center.

The shooting camp will focus on all phases and mechanics of shooting. Campers will participate in shooting off the pass and off the dribble drills and receive instruction on proper hand position, footwork and follow-through methods.

Cost is $100 per camper per session and includes a camp T-shirt. l UAFS women’s basketball coach Louis Whorton will conduct an elite camp this summer for girls entering ninth-12th grades on June 26-27 at Stubblefield Center.

The elite camp will be an intense clinic focused on improving fundamental skills through a college practice format and implementing those skills in a game situation.

Cost is $80 per overnight camper includes two meals, housing and a camp T-shirt. Cost is $50 per commuter camper and includes a T-shirt. Volleyball

l UAFS volleyball coach Jane Sargent will conduct an individual skills camp on June 15-17 at the Stubblefield Center. The three-day camp will be in session from 1-4 p.m. on June 15 and 9 a.m.-noon on June 16-17.

Instruction, activities and supervision will be classified according to age. Each camper will receive individual instruction in all fundamental phases of volleyball, including passing, serving, hitting, digging and blocking. Each camper will participate in scrimmage matches held during each session.

Camp staff will stress development of sportsmanship, leadership and citizenship.
