The annual ShellShocked Outdoors Pop-Up Archery Tournament, now in its fifth year, has continued to grow in popularity. There were twice as many participants as last year with thousands in attendance at the two day event. Proceeds in donations and silent auction revenue totalled $2,100. This money will be used to provide outdoor sporting events for area children.
"Several seasoned shooters held back to see what the new shooters were going to do," Jim Newcomb, founder of ShellShocked Outdoors said. "Competition was close and scores were tight. This was the best turnout we’ve ever had."
The silent auction included several hunting and fishing trips, feeders, autographed paintings, hunting and camping gear. There was also an AR-15, an uzi, a Winchester shotgun and a Umarex USA Air Rifle all signed by the cast of Duck Dynasty. All auction items were donated to the tournament.
"Without help from donors and sponsors, this event would not happen," Newcomb explained. "This list has grown larger every year and we would like to thank LouAnn Feeder, MoulTree, Booyah Bait Co., Duck Commander, Buck Commander, Vapor Maker Scents, Bone Collector, Dick’s Sporting Goods, The Tackle Box, Fort Chaffee Outfitters, A-Z Sporting Goods, Greenwood Democrat, UmarexUSA, Walther Arms, Major League Fishing, Central Kansas Outfitters, Yeager’s Ace Hardware, Pepsi Bottling Co., Eastside Convenience, CV’s in Greenwood, Phil Hicks Insurance, First National Bank, Mazzio’s, Boo’s Bulldog Diner, Paul Evans Dentistry, Buck Gardner, Betts Custom Calls and Ruger Arms."
