The Greenwood Bulldogs beat Lake Hamilton behind a strong second half to finish their regular season undefeated.

The Bulldogs did not get off to their best start, as Lake Hamilton scored just two minutes into the game off of a 54 yard pass and catch. The Bulldogs, however, did respond before the end of the first quarter as running back Kenny Wood carried in the ball from six yards out to tie the game 7-7.

Just a few minutes later, the Bulldogs drove the ball all the way to the Lake Hamilton 17 yard line before stalling and kicking a field goal. Greenwood kicker, Grant Ennis, put the ball through the uprights to give Greenwood their first lead of the night 10-7. Lake Hamilton made a drive of their own before the half as they marched all the way to the Greenwood 13 yard line with less than a minute left. The Greenwood defense would come up huge though, as they held them on third down which forced the Wolves to kick a field goal with two seconds left in the half. Lake Hamilton knocked the 30 yard field goal through the uprights, which sent the Bulldogs to the locker room tied at 10.

The Bulldogs got it rolling quickly in the second half as Connor Noland found senior wide receiver, Zane Harmon, open for the touchdown. This gave Greenwood a 17-10 lead early in the second half. The Bulldogs were not done. After a partially blocked punt by Greenwood they added seven more points to the scoreboard thanks to Kenny Wood who took the ball in from eight yards out.

The defense-which was huge all night- came up with another big play as junior, Aaron Ohl, intercepted a pass and took it five yards back to the house for a touchdown. This pick-6 put the Bulldogs up 31-10 with 3:15 left in the third quarter.

After another stop by the Bulldog defense, Greenwood found the end-zone once again and put the dagger in the Wolves. Connor Noland found Peyton Holt this time for a 58 yard touchdown reception. Greenwood kept their foot on the gas in the fourth quarter as Connor Noland kept the ball from four yards out to extend the Bulldog’s lead to 45-10 with nine minutes left in the fourth quarter.

The Wolves pushed across one more touchdown in the late fourth quarter off of a seven yard run, which would bring the final score to 45-17.

Connor Noland threw for 238 yards on the night and Peyton Holt caught nine passes for 114 yards. Kenny Wood also added 128 rushing yards.

The Bulldogs have a BYE (an off week) this Friday before facing the winner of Texarkana versus Marion next Friday in Greenwood.
