The Lady Bulldogs were nothing short of spectacular in their win over the Texarkana Razorbacks.
Greenwood’s pressure was just too much for the Razorbacks last Tuesday night as they would cruise to a 60-35 victory.
Greenwood would jump out to an early 15-0 lead and they would end the first quarter up 18-3. Greenwood’s Kyiah Julian and Sara Reeves were huge factors in Greenwood’s early start as they would get numerous steals on the defensive end and turn them into points on the offensive end. The Lady Bulldogs would have 10 turnovers at the end of the first quarter.
Greenwood would keep the pedal to the floor as they would be up by 26 at halftime, and eventually getting into the running clock mercy rule in the third quarter. Greenwood would finish the game by winning 60-35.
Kyiah Julian, Kaitlyn Summit, and Kaila Cartwright finished the game in double figures, while Sara Reeves and Baleigh Wiginton scored six points each.
This win was very special to Greenwood senior Sara Reeves as this is her third straight year to make the state tournament. Reeves states that it has been, “really special because you see all the hard work you have been putting in for the past months is paying off.”
Greenwood will be going into the state playoffs as a five seed, and they will be playing a talented West Memphis team. Even though Greenwood comes in as a five seed they know that they can make some noise in the tournament. Sophomore guard Kenzie Smith states that, “We are going to give it all we have and try to bring back a state title.”
Greenwood will play on Wednesday at 1:00 in Lake Hamilton.
