Mary Sue Fitzgerald, 88, of Barling passed from this life Saturday, July 7, 2018, in her home. She was born April 12, 1930, in Booneville to the late Roland Homer and Mary (Pumphrey) Lewis. She was a homemaker and a member of United Methodist Church in Barling. She enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers, cooking, playing guitar and singing, but most of all, taking care of her grandkids and spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Lewis Clark Fitzgerald and Jerry Thomas Fitzgerald; two sisters, Grace Marie Davis and Dorothy Wilkes; two brothers, Joe Homer Lewis and Howard Thomas Lewis; and her parents, before mentioned.
Funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Roberts Memorial Chapel in Booneville with burial at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith at 2 p.m. under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday prior to the funeral service at Roberts Funeral Home.
She is survived by her husband, Joe T. Fitzgerald of the home; one daughter, Karen Sue Thorn (Bob) of Barling; one son, Bobby Joe Fitzgerald (Deena) of Fayetteville; two sisters, Norma Briggs of Magazine and Emily Spain of Booneville; seven grandchildren, Grant, Ashley, Jason (Beth), Kristen (Jason), Britney, Kevin and Stephen (Cassie); and four great-grandchildren, Harper, Justin, Coltin and Cooper.
Pallbearers will be Jason Fitzgerald, Grant Fitzgerald, Stephen Thorn, Brad Sharp, Ron Davis and Gary Davis.
Honorary pallbearer is Kevin Fitzgerald.
