Mary Lou Edwards, 70, of Barling passed away Nov. 17, 2017, in Fort Smith. She was born Aug. 1, 1947, at Kirksey Maternity Hospital in Mulberry to Ernest and Redith Hauth. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Redith Hauth; two brothers, Roy Francis and Roy Preston; one sister, Sue Jones; and one nephew, Jerry Jones.
She is survived by one sister, Lois Davis and husband John of Pocola; one daughter, Kim Dooley of Houston; one son, Tony Brewer and his wife, Shondell of Villa Rica, Ga.; three granddaughters, Kayla Rapp and her husband, Russ, and Shannon and Amber Brewer; two great-grandchildren, Zane and Luna Rapp; one nephew, Ross Davis; four nieces, Debbie Ulrich, Donna Thicksten, Patti Fellerman and Becky Jones; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Mary was a nurse for 40 plus years. She was an amazing nurse who was always requested or bragged on by patients, as well as co-workers. The only thing she did better than being a nurse was being a memaw. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than words can ever say. She was an amazing sister, aunt and mother. She is loved so much and will be greatly missed. “Absence and death are the same — only that in death there is no suffering” Theodore Roosevelt.
Memorial service will be noon Monday at Lewis-Roberts Funeral Chapel, 4817 Kelley Hwy., Fort Smith. Cremation is under direction of Lewis-Roberts Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith.
