The Bell Park Foundation and the Greenwood community lost one of its leaders recently with the passing of Bill Walters. We all sadly miss Bill and his infectious enthusiasm for life. We all know how dedicated he was to our community. At the pinnacle of Bell Park is a beautiful promenade overlooking stunning mountains as well as the Walters and Gaston Law Firm. Bill once stated that he built that nice building that houses the law firm so that he could contribute to the skyline of Greenwood. It was his hope that others would follow by adding to our community. Many of Bill’s friends have recounted how he loved to take friends on a flight path directly over this peak at Bell park and watch his passenger’s eyes grow large as the earth plunged dramatically on the other side of the mountain.

The next project for the Bell Park foundation is to improve signage. Part of this includes new signs at various overlook points detailing the views and mountain peaks. Near the infamous lovers leap, we plan to create a Walters Overlook marked with an engraved rock. Many of us have either personally or professionally have had our lives positively impacted by Bill and Shirley Walters. If you would like to financially contribute to the Walters overlook specifically or any of the vista overlooks generally, you may do so my making an in person donation at the Osborn Agency or at any branch of Farmers Bank. You may also donate online by choosing the Bell Park Foundation on website for the Arkansas Community Foundation at . You may also mail your donation to the Bell Park Foundation, Inc. P.O. Box 1144, Greenwood, AR 72936. If you have knowledge about the various peaks or information of the vistas please let us know. If you would like to give an opinion about any of these projects or have other ideas or suggestions for the park please share them with us. If you would like more information about the plans for Bell park, feel free to contact one of the Board members or look at our website
