The American Cancer Society/Relay for Life will be held on Friday, May 17th, 2013, 7 pm at the Greenwood Football Field. There will be lots of food, games and entertainment through the night for everyone to enjoy. There will also be a silent auction with many items donated by local merchants, or made by local residents.
One the items for this years silent auction will be donated by Johnny Cabe, Father of Susan Dunn, event chair for this year’s relay. Johnny is donating a hand carved and hand painted Arkansas Razorback walking stick. He has made several different kinds of walking stick for various charities and friends. He made one for coach Jones with all of his State Championship wins, shown above. The walking stick that is donated is a carved Razorback stick that is signed by our own Tyler Wilson, former Greenwood Bulldog quarterback, former Arkansas Razorback quarterback and now a member of the NFL team, Oakland Raiders.
Johnny has been touched by cancer by being a caregiver to his father, Chester Cabe, wife Betty Cabe and daughter Susan Dunn, so this is his way of giving back. All proceeds from the silent auction will go to the American Cancer Society. This is just one of many items donated for the auction, so come out, bring your lawn chairs, and help us in our fight to find a cure for cancer. If you have questions, call Susan Dunn at 479-597-0474.
