Edwards Memorial Scholarship

Greenwood High School alumni Sara Armistead recently presented a scholarship for $1,000 to senior Peyton Heathcott to attend UA-Fort Smith. Armistead feels strongly about the need to help others and has set up this scholarship as a memorial to her brother Kenneth Edwards. She has generously provided this scholarship to a graduating senior from Greenwood for over twelve years. Peyton is the daughter of Mark and Jean Heathcott and plans on majoring in nursing. She is involved in Beta Club and National Honor Society.

Distinguished Scholar

Austin Pearcy from Greenwood High School has received a Distinguished Scholars award from Arkansas Tech University beginning with the fall 2014 semester. He plans to major in Mechanical Engineering.

Honors Scholars

Several local students have been selected to the Norbert O. Schedler Honors College at the University of Central Arkansas. These include: Danielle Bridges of Greenwood, Kylie Cleavenger of Greenwood, Hannah Johnson of Hartford, Anna McAfee of Greenwood and Brinnon Rathbun of Greenwood.

Secondary Century Scholarship

Kyle Pierce of Greenwood High School has received a Secondary Century Scholarship award from Arkansas Tech University. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, FBLA, Spanish Honors, Honors DC4 and the Greenwood Bulldog Football team. He is the son of Pam and Gary Caldwell of Fort Smith and David and Sophia Pierce of Tyler, Texas.

Buccella to graduate from Central Oklahoma

Greenwood resident Valan Marie Buccella will graduate from the University of Central Oklahoma with a Master of Arts degree in Psychology – Forensic Psychology along with approximately 2,183 spring and summer 2014 graduates from throughout the country and world during Central’s Commencement Ceremonies May 9-10.

Addy superstar graduates from UAFS

Brooke Cagle, a 2008 Honor Student graduate of Greenwood High School, graduated from UAFS last Saturday. She received a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design. In February, she was honored with two Gold Awards for projects submitted to the Regional American Advertising Awards held in Fort Smith. She has also received a Gold award in Austin, Texas at the District level and will fly to Boca Raton, Fla. to receive her third Addy Award at the National level. She recently accepted a design position with BLKBOXLABS, a digital branding agency in northwest Arkansas. Cagle plans to live in the Fayetteville area.
