The McDonald Music Series wraps up its 2012-2013 season with a concert by internationally renowed classical saxophonist Ashu. The free performance will be on Friday, May 17 at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith.
A native of California, Ashu, 26, has already won national and international competitions normally won by violinists and pianists. He performs transcriptions and original works composed for saxophone in solo recitals and as featured performer with orchestras around Europe and the United States. He made his recital debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City, and at age 16 made his concerto debut at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. NPR’s Performance Today calls his performance "Riveting…Brilliant…Pizazz to burn!"
Admission to all McDonald Series concerts is free and open to the public. The Series is now totally privately supported. No fees are taken at the door; however, donations and underwriting are gratefully accepted to continue offering this musical gift to the community. Phone 479-783-8919 for more information.
