The Greenwood Junior High quiz bowl team took second place at the Tournament of Champions held Saturday, March 30, at Watson Chapel High School. Greenwood went 10-1 in the round robin tournament, which featured only the best teams from each classification. To be invited teams had to finish in the top four of their classification’s junior finals (state level) tournaments. Greenwood’s only loss came to Conway, in a close game that came down to the last question. Conway’s team also finished 10-1, but were awarded first place because they defeated Greenwood in their head-to-head match. Greenwood’s team consisted of ninth graders Briana Hice, Samia Ismail, Hunter Moore, and Annalise Orban; eighth graders Bryce Cohea, Jackson Mitchell, and Bee Rainey; and seventh graders Blake Bartlett, Olivia Brown, and Sabah Ismail. Jackson Mitchell, the team’s captain, was also named to the all-tournament team. The team is coached by Rick Clow.
