Greenwood High School alumni Sara Armistead recently presented a scholarship for $1,000 to senior Kayla Elmore to attend UA-Fort Smith. Armistead feels strongly about the need to help others and has set up this scholarship as a memorial to her brother Kenneth Edwards. She has generously provided this scholarship to a graduating senior from Greenwood for over ten years.

Kayla is the daughter of Tommy and Rachel Elmore and plans on majoring in elementary education and hopes to return to teach in the Greenwood School District. She is co-captain of the GHS dance team and serves as the baseball manager. Kayla is currently a member of FCCLA and Partners Club

"I believe in myself and I know that with this scholarship, I will have the foundation needed to better myself in the classroom and enable me to become the person who makes a difference in this community," stated Elmore.
