One of the biggest and most challenging tasks facing families today involves grandparents parenting their grandchildren. Many grandparents raising grandchildren face ongoing issues around the basic physical, emotional and financial adjustments they must make. Some grandparents may feel deprived of a normal relationship with their grandchildren. Although many of these grandparents hope that the arrangement will be temporary, many have found it to be permanent. Many of these grandparents suffer in silence because they feel judged, criticized and abandoned by their family, friends and society.

There will be a workshop held on this topic at the Greenwood Special Education Office at 316 North Daisy in Greenwood. The workshop will run from 6-7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2014 and will be facilitated by Patti Allison, Licensed Professional Counselor. Please contact the Parent/Caregiver Support Group at 996-8884 two days prior if you need to arrange free child care.
