The College of Business at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith inducted 23 students into Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society in Business, Management and Administration during a ceremony which was followed by an awards dinner recognizing nine students for their academic achievements.

Membership in Sigma Beta Delta is the highest international recognition a business student can receive at a college or university with a Sigma Beta Delta chapter. The organization encourages and recognizes scholarship and achievement among students of business, management, and administration.

To be eligible for membership, a business student must rank in the upper 20 percent of juniors and seniors. Candidates are invited to membership by the faculty officers. Members are expected to encourage and promote personal and professional improvement and lead a life distinguished by honorable service to humankind.

New members included Shawna Balazic of Hackett and Summer Lang of Mansfield.

Among the students receiving College of Business awards were Christina Freeman for Academic Excellence in Accounting and Shayna Gatzke for Academic Excellence in Business Administration and Outstanding Business Administration Graduate. They are both from Greenwood.

Keynote speaker for the dinner was Leah Grimm of Muldrow, a UAFS alumna.
