On March 11, 2014, Sebastian County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 500 block of S. Monroe Way in Midland, Ark. The report from a third party caller was a wife may have shot her husband.
Deputies arrived and found Chas McDowell, 38 years of age, and his wife, Nicole McDowell, 32 years of age. Deputies secured the scene and began to investigate. The deputies discovered that as a result of a domestic disturbance Nicole McDowell had taken three shots at her husband with a .22 caliber handgun. Chas was not struck by any of the shots. Deputies did find one broken window.
During the struggle Chas had attempted to run away from their residence. Nicole had begun to chase him in a pickup truck. She wound up crashing the truck into a tree.
Chas McDowell had gotten the handgun away from his wife and had possession of the handgun when deputies arrived. Nicole McDowell had received a blow to her head with some binoculars as Chas threw them at her head in an effort to get away from her. Both parties had been using methamphetamine.
Chas was charged with being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm. He is currently in SCADC with a $2,500 bond. Nicole has been charged with Attempted Murder, 1st Degree as she admitted to investigators that she shot at her husband with intention to kill him. Nicole has no bond at this time.
