Dr. Kay Headley, former superintendent of Greenwood Public Schools, recently established a scholarship in memory of her mother, Mrs. Violet Bridges. Headley endowed the $4000 scholarship ($1000 per semester for four semesters) to honor her mother who was a longtime educator in Greenwood Public Schools. The scholarship will be awarded to a GHS graduate entering the field of education.
The first recipient of the scholarship is Kaylynn Sims, daughter of Belinda and Brian Sims. Sims plans to attend Henderson State University in Arkadelphia and major in Education/Mathematics and Statistics. While at GHS Kaylynn was a member of the Partners Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletics, Varsity Cheerleader, Mu Alpha Theta, BETA Club, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America and Teen Leader for the Greenwood Junior Cotillion. She is leaving GHS with enough concurrent hours to enter Henderson as a sophomore and hopefully complete her college education in three years. Dr. Headley recently presented the scholarship to Kaylynn.
