Jeffrey B. Turner of Greenwood, AR has announced his intention to run for the position of District 2 Constable. Turner is a 1989 Graduate of Greenwood High School and a 1992 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Education with an emphasis in Kinesiology and Athletic Training while serving as an athletic trainer for the Razorback Football and Track Teams.
He is retired from the U.S. Secret Service as a criminal investigator, and is currently employed by Sebastian County Judge’s Office as the Assistant County Administrator. His duties include providing assistance to the County Judge by performing comprehensive managerial and administrative functions in all areas of county governmental operations.
Turner is married to his wife of 23 years, Elysa, and has two children attending Greenwood Schools in the 2017-2018 school year in grades seventh and eleventh and a daughter who is a Junior at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith. He is a member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church.
He remains active in law enforcement as an ALETA certified police officer and is a volunteer firefighter and medical responder with the Greenwood Rural Fire Department as well as a licensed Advanced Emergency Medical Technician.
He is very involved with a variety of organizations throughout Sebastian County including Deputy County Coroner, CART (Child Abduction Response Team), Vice President of the Greenwood School District Board of Directors, Boy Scouts of America, Civil Air Patrol, American Red Cross, US Coast Guard Auxiliary, member of the Sebastian County 911 Board, Historian for the Arkansas Emergency Management Association, APCO Arkansas Northwest Liaison, Member of the APSBN Urban Area Focus Group, President of the South Sebastian County Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors, Focus on Greenwood, Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, Trustee of the Sebastian County Historical Society, Building Committee for the Sebastian County Library and is the Northwest District Youth Coordinator for the United Methodist Church.
He belongs to a large group of law enforcement, emergency service and professional associations and task forces and is a Past President of the High Technology Criminal Investigation Association/Texas Gulf Coast Chapter which was the international chapter of the year during his term. He was honored as the Emergency Manager of the year for the state of Arkansas in 2015.
Jeff comes from a long line of public servants. His grandfather, Arl McConnell was a teacher, coach and principal and his father Robert Turner, was a junior high teacher and elementary principal, with the Greenwood School District.
