On Thursday April 19, Greenwood will remember the devastating tornado of 1968 that struck the town of 2,000 people 50 years ago. The Greenwood Democrat with the help of several sponsors will hold a gala event at the Greenwood High School Student Union called Voices From the Storm.

This event will feature a 30 minute documentary with interviews from survivors such as Dr. James Burgess, Martha Mizell, Drucilla Hughart, Orin Frank, Wilma and Cecil Cabe, Mary Ann Gamble, Wayland Parker, Betty Mayo, Betty and Norman Wilkinson, Doug and Fred Kinslow and Cinda Bell.

The video was compiled by the Greenwood Democrat and edited by Regan Jones.

A magazine, that has been two years in the making, will also be unveiled at the event. Everyone attending the Thursday evening will be given a copy of the magazine. The magazine will be delivered to every subscriber on April 25. You can also visit greenwoodtornado.com and order your copy of Voices From the Storm. The magazine sells for a price of $12.95 and ships on April 20. This commemorative magazine is filled with stories from survivors of the April 19 tornado of 1968 and much much more.

The event will have a panel made up of survivors of the 68 tornado who will share their stories and answer questions from the audience.
