Greenwood City Firefighter Roy Holtz has served the community for the last seven year as of Nov. 1. Roy joined the Greenwood Rural fire department right after he graduated from Greenwood High School in 2010. In 2012 Holtz joined the Hartford Fire Department when he started working for James Fork water. Roy and has been on the Greenwood City Department for the last two years.
“I have really enjoyed my time on Greenwood City,” said Holtz. “I like how we interact with the community. I have always wanted to do that.”
Roy is a first responder for the city, he is an instructor, is certified search and rescue III and is currently waiting to take his test to become Firefighter I and II.
Holtz stated that firefighting is in his blood. “It is a family tradition,” said Holtz. His great grandfather was the Assistant Chief at the Morrilton Fire Department, his grandfather was a firefighter and his father is the Chief at the Overcup Arkansas Fire Department.
Roy has been married to his wife Brooklyn for three years and they have two boys, Ethan and William.
