On Sep. 22 Greenwood lost one of its citizens, Fred Kinslow, who was a much a part of the fabric of the town as anyone who has ever lived here. If you ever had the opportunity to meet Mr. Kinslow or had your hair cut by him you know him as the kind gentle person that he was and odds are he told you a story about his time in the town that he loved.

Kinslow was born May 2, 1931, was was a member of Greenwood First Baptist Church since 1964, where he served as a deacon, taught Sunday school for several years, a member of Harris Hannah VFW post #6527, he was a Korean War Veteran. Army National Guard PFC 1949-1951, Airman 2nd Class 1951-1954, and Greenwood Co- Citizen Of The Year 2003 with his wife Bodesia.

Next week the Greenwood Democrat will remember Fred in a special tab. We want to fill the tab with pictures and memories of his life and the lives that he has touched.

If you have a memory you would like us to share in this commemorative tab please contact us and share it with us. We can not promise to print every story but will fit as many in as we can and share the rest on Facebook. You can email your story to info@greenwooddemocrat.com, share it with us on our Facebook page or bring it by to us at 38 Town Square.

The celebration service for Fred will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 27 at First Baptist Church in Greenwood with interment at Gillam Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home.
