The Greenwood Bulldogs struggled in the first half against a strong Texarkana team, but they showed their dominance in the second half on their way to a 38-17 win.

Greenwood took the early lead over the Texarkana Razorbacks thanks to a beautiful catch and throw from Connor Noland to Peyton Holt. Texarkana would make a drive of their own looking to tie the game, but the Greenwood defense stopped them in the red zone and forced them to kick a field goal. The field goal fell through for the Razorbacks and moved the score to 7-3.

Greenwood looked to answer right back, but that did not happen due to an interception by the Razorbacks. Just second after the interception, Texarkana found the end zone to go up 10-7 with three minutes left in the first quarter.

Greenwood did not go away. Just minutes later, Kenny Wood found the end zone from three yards out to put Greenwood back on top. The Bulldogs did miss the extra point, but they were still up 13-10.

Both Greenwood and Texarkana’s offenses went stagnant in the second quarter, until the Razorbacks found the end zone with two minutes left. Texarkana carried it in from 45 yards out to put themselves up 17-13 right before halftime.

Greenwood’s defense came up huge at the start of the second half. Just a minute into the half, the Bulldogs recovered a fumble at Texarkana’s 10 yard line giving the offense great field position. The offense was not able to push across a touchdown but kicker, Grant Ennis, knocked one through to put the Bulldogs within a point.

Greenwood’s defense was in control for the rest of the half, not allowing the Razorbacks to score, and the offense did the rest. With five minutes left in the third quarter, Connor Noland found Kenny Wood for a long touchdown. With one minute left in the quarter, Peyton Holt caught his second touchdown of the contest to put Greenwood up 31-17. Holt finished with five catches for 60 yards on the night, while Connor Noland finished with 202 passing yards.

Kenny Wood added the dagger in the fourth quarter for the Bulldogs after he ran in a touchdown from 22 yards out to put the Bulldogs up 38-17. Wood finished with 129 yards on 16 carries and he also caught five passes for 112 yards.

The Bulldogs (4-0, 1-0) take on El Dorado (4-0, 1-0) at home this Friday and encourage everyone to show up and support their Bulldogs.
