A home located in the 300 block of Wiggins Drive in Paris was totally destroyed by an early morning fire on Tuesday, Aug. 1.

The Paris Volunteer Fire Department has asked the Arkansas State Police to look into the cause of the fire, according to Fire Chief John Paul Wells.

“The home was not occupied at the time of the fire and there was no utility service to it,” Wells said. “There was no lightening or bad weather at the time, so it’s suspicious. That’s why we’ve called in the state police to send someone to investigate.”

The fire was reported around 3 a.m., Wells said. The structure was fully engulfed in flames when firemen arrived on the scene a few minutes later. Wells said no firemen were injured.

“In a situation like this, it’s common practice to look into the cause of the fire,” Wells said.

The home had been moved to the site earlier this year, Wells said.
