Derick Allison, with Walters, Gaston, Allison, and Parker Law Firm, present Greenwood Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tanya Taylor with a check for their sponsorship for this year’s Freedomfest 5K being held July 4th in Greenwood. Their sponsorship will help provide chip timing for this year’s race.
“We so appreciate the Law Firm providing this service for us,” Taylor states. “Runners want an accurate time on their run, and they want the results quickly” which chip timing provides.
Chip timing is a process in which runners run across mats that electronically start and stop their time. It cuts down on the amount of time it takes to get the results, and is an accurate means of timing.
This year’s Freedomfest Run will take place on July 4th at 7:30 am with sign in beginning at 6:30 am at the Means Wilkinson Community Room at Farmers Bank in Greenwood. Registration is $20 on or before June 30th, $30 thereafter. T-shirts will be given to the first 300 registrants. Runners will be able to register on-line by going to https://runsignup.com/race/ar/greenwood/freedomfestrun or by going to the Chamber web-site at www.greenwoodarkansas.com and following the link.
Cash prizes will be given to the race participants with the most patriotic themed attire. “I really enjoy seeing so many runners in Patriotic attire on race day,” Taylor says, “I think it adds to the spirit and makes it more than just a race.”
