Nick and Michele Costa owners of Cornerstone Veterinary clinic, along with Robin Meskill and Amy Frank present Greenwood Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tanya Taylor a check for their sponsorship of this year’s Freedomfest 5K being held July 4th.

The race will be chip timed again this year, a process in which runners run across mats that electronically start and stop their time, making for a more accurate time. Additional to chip timing, runners will be able to register on-line this year by going to the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce web site and following the link for the Freedomfest5K, or by going to “We are so excited about being able to register on line,” Race Director Randy Davis said, “it is more convenient for the runners and actually helps streamline things in the Chamber Office as well.”

The Freedomfest 5K will take place on July 4th at 7:30 a.m. with check in beginning at 6:30 a.m. at the Means Wilkinson Community Room at Farmers Bank. Registration is $20 before or on June 30th, $30 thereafter. T-shirts will be given to the first 300 registrants.

Cash prizes will be given to the race participants with the most patriotic themed attire. “I really enjoy seeing so many runners in Patriotic attire on race day,” stated Director Davis. “whether it is Uncle Sam suits, or runners dressed in red, white and blue, I think it adds to the spirit and makes it more than a race.”
