The UAFS cheerleading team won the NCA Collegiate Intermediate Coed Division II National Championship on Friday in Daytona Beach, FL.

UAFS edged out national runner-up Iowa Central Community College in claiming the title. Fellow Heartland Conference member Rogers State finished third.

The 2016-2017 team is the first UAFS team ever to hit a zero deduction routine during both days of competition.

The UAFS cheer team was one of several collegiate cheer teams competing for a NCA College Cheerleading National Championship this week. The nearly week-long event featured cheer teams from throughout the country representing programs from NJCAA, NAIA and NCAA Division I, II and III.

UAFS, which is coached by head coach Stacie Kohles, also won the Collegiate Intermediate Coed Division II National Championship in 2015.
