Greenwood Artist of the Month is Julie Mayser.
Julie’s work will be exhibited through April at Greenwood City Hall.
Julie Mayser received her first art schooling at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago Ill. Subsequently she studied at CASC (Poteau OK) and Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Ok. She has also studied with leading artist-teachers in the U.S. and Europe, continuing her art education into the present.
Mayser’s award-winning paintings are in private, public and corporate collections across the U.S., and private collections in Canada, Europe & Asia. Recent collectors are Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin, Fort Smith Mayor’s office, Ft Smith Convention Center, Ft Smith Regional Art Museum (Permanent collection), the Arkansas Sheriffs Youth Ranches, and more. Her works have been shown in galleries in Ft Smith, Rogers, Bentonville, Eureka Springs, Hot Springs AR, as well as in special exhibits such as one recently held at the Philbrook Museum in Tulsa OK. She lives in Greenwood AR.
My work is ever-evolving, leaning towards representational painting with hints of impressionism. My paintings are truly serene, whether depicting the solitude of the country side, a quiet still life or a portrait of animal or person. They are visual meditations that beckon viewers to discover their own inner calm.
The Greenwood Art Guild meets every fourth Thursday of each month (January throught October) at 6 p.m. in the Community Room at the main branch of Farmer’s Bank in Greenwood. Visitors are welcome!
