Fort Smith National Historic Site will be celebrating National Train Day with a host of activities on May 21. The events will be focused around the historic Frisco Depot (behind the Commissary building). This historic train station was built in 1903 and used for several decades to haul freight and passengers along the FRISCO (San Francisco—Saint Louis Company) lines. The depot will open 10:00am train rides will be available. The train will arrive at the depot at 12:00pm to give rides for a fee.

The Fort Smith Trolley Museum will have a dedication at 2:00pm with mock-robberies by the Indian Territory Pistoleros going on all day long. Across the grounds the Lawbreakers and Peacemakers old west reenactment group will be having mock shoot outs all day long.

At 4:00pm there will also be a cannon firing on the park’s parade ground as staff and volunteers portray a Union Civil War artillery battery. This program is free to the public.
