The second child of John Morgan was Nannie B. Little, born Jan. 4, 1885 in Arkansas. In the 1900 US Federal Census it shows Nannie, age 15 living at Big Creek, Sebastian County, Arkansas with her parents, brothers and sisters. Apparently the middle initial B. stands for Belle, some of her records call her by that name.

I found a copy of an Arkansas county marriage certificate for Belle Little, age 18, residence Lavaca, Sebastian County, AR. The spouse is listed as Mallie Cray, male and age 21. His address is listed as Beverly, Sebastian County, AR. Marriage date is Dec. 24, 1903 and marriage license date is Dec. 4, 1903. They were married in Sebastian County, AR.

Her husband Mallie Harwood Craig (notice different spelling for last name) was born Dec. 28, 1881. His father was Benjamin F. Craig and mother Katie.

After Mallie and Nannie Bell married they moved to Haskell County, Oklahoma. The 1910 Federal Census shows them living in Chant, Ward 5, Haskell, OK. Also with them are several children; Theo age 4, Kate age 3, and Fred just a baby. Another child is listed with no name and age 3/12 which means 3 months old. I later learned from someone else’s family tree that there was another girl named Hazel Bel born in 1911 and died in 1919.

In 1914 Mallie remarried a women by the name of Bertha Mabel Cox. They had several children also, but they would not have been Little’s, so I won’t go into their names. The 1920 US Federal Census shows Bertha living with Mallie and the following children, James T. age 14, Ema K. age 12, Fred M. age 10, Herman M. age 4, Mildred age 2 and Benjamin F. less then a year. Also listed is a one month old baby but no name. James T. is a from the marriage to Nannie Belle, so is Kate and Fred. The children born after 1914 are from the union of Mallie and Bertha.

Nannie Belle and Mattie’s first child was James Theo Craig born Aug. 21, 1905 in Arkansas. In the 1940 Federal Census Record we find James, age 34, married, occupation metal work in an auto repair garage, owns his own house, and only finished his first year of high school.

Dec. 24, 1929 he married Clea Aretta Clayton. I didn’t find any children born to them. Clea was born in Oklahoma and I didn’t find out much about her before she married James Theo. James Theo died in Oct. 7, 1963 in Fort Smith, AR. That is where his burial is.

The second child born to Mallie and Nannie was Kate Emma Craig born June 21, 1907. She must have married sometime around 1928. The 1930 Federal census shows a Kate E. Wickersham living in Machire, Haskill County, Oklahoma. I found out she married a Charles Edgar Wiskersham from another family tree on This information matched up with the census I found. The census shows the spouse as Edgar C. Wickersham. First and middle names are often turned around in records and a person can be known by their middle name. This same census shows a child named Inez, age 1 and another unnamed child less then a year old. The 1940 US Federal census shows Emma K. Wickersham (as she is called here) living in Brooken, Haskell, OK. Her highest grade finished was 7th grade. She is age 32 at this time, husband Edgor is 37. Listed are children Inez, 13; Earnest L. age 9 and Jackie J. age 5.

Emma K. died Dec. 28, 1974 according to her social security death index and her "find a grave" document. She was buried in Oak Valley Cemetery in Lavaca, Sebastian County, AR. Her husband Charles Edgar died Mar. 18, 1978 and is also buried next to his wife.

Last child born to Mallie and Nannie was Fred M. Craig. He was born June 24, 1909 in Arkansas. I found the 1930 US Federal Census with the name Fread M. Craig on it but in parenthesis it has Fred M. Craig. Fred is 20 years old and is living with his parents and other relatives.

Next I found the 1940 US Federal census and I love how this particular year has more information. This one states his occupation as laborer, tells us he is renting, and his highest grade finished was 8th grade. It also says he is married and age 30. It lists wife Rena Craig and a child Dvane W. Craig, age 4.

Fred’s son Dvane was born in 1936, so he must have married about a year or so before that. I didn’t find much out about Rena or anything more about the son Dvane. One of the last thing’s I did was print a copy of Fred M. Craig’s "Find a Grave" document and on it I find a notation about his wife. It states her name is Renah Bell Green Craig (1912 to 2009). That must mean her maiden name was Green.

Fred died Oct. 7, 1963 and is buried in Wasco Memorial Park, Wasco, Kern County, California. Plot: Block 103, Lot R.

Next week we will continue with more children of John Morgan Little.
