Girls roll a strike in holiday tournament

The Greenwood Lady Bulldog's bowling team remained undefeated over the Christmas break by winning the fourth Annual River Valley Holiday Tournament at Bowling World in Fort Smith.

The tournament was a mix Class 7A, 5A, and 4A teams from around the area.

Senior Whitney Fuller led Greenwood with a 536 series followed by Stephanie Little with a 481.

Greenwood won the series match with a score of 2694 over Lake Hamilton, which had 2361. Greenwood increased its margin in the Baker's series, finishing with 3315 pins felled.

Fort Smith Southside finished second overall with 2962 pins, passing Lake Hamilton in the Baker's series.

Amanda Jester of Southside was girls high bowler with a 569 series.

Southside won the boys tournament with a total of 3994 pins behind Aaron Johnston's 702 series.

Greenwood finished fourth with 3335 pins.

Kevin Boatman was high bowler for the Bulldogs with a 496 series. Brody Fisher bowled a 493 and Chris Blume 490.

Greenwood returned to River Valley Conference play on Monday against Union Christian Academy.

Seniors Stephanie Little, Laura Sharum, and Whitney Fuller have paced the Lady Bulldogs' perfect record thus far.

Sharum is averaging 188 pins per game while Little is averaging 185.

Sophomores Katie Sanders and Emily Fortson, and freshman Lateesha Boggs make up the remainder of the team.
