The Greenwood police department discovered 10 illegal aliens living in a rent house in the Westwood subdivision Friday. The illegal immigrants were turned over to Immigration and Customs Agents for deportation.
According to a police report 6:30 Friday morning while on a morning run a Greenwood Police officer noticed a Hispanic woman coming out of the woods covered mud. The female was observed walking down Dillon Terrace and getting into a dark colored passenger vehicle. The off duty officer called for an active officer who arrived on the scene to see the vehicle travel toward him with a female subject attempting to exit the passenger door of the vehicle while it was in motion. He also observed a Hispanic male run to the back of a residence.
The officer then blocked the vehicle and exited his car and approached the vehicle. The passenger, Nina Nordin began screaming, yelling and cursing at the officer while the driver, Geinieva Meyers, tried to calm Nordin down. Nordin was placed under arrest for public intoxication and disorderly conduct. After searching Meyers, she was arrested for possession of misbranded drugs. Both women also had outstanding warrants.
Nordin and Myers said that they were coming from the house where the male subject was last seen. Greenwood PD returned to the house the house to question the subject who stated that he had ran because he was an illegal alien. The officers search the residence, which contained several Hispanic males that could not produce identification or proof that they were here legally.
Greenwood Police Chief Keith Jackson stated that when they entered the house that there were beds everywhere. "They were all asleep," said Jackson. "When we got them up to ID them everyone in the house was illegal."
Immigration and Customs Agents were contacted and placed Isreal Gonzalez, Martin Huerta, Jose Gomez, Saul Gomez, Abraham Coronado, Elisco Matias, Carlos Lucas, Cesar Coronado, Fernando Lopez and Javior Cortez into custody.
According to Jackson the 10 illegals shipped out Tuesday morning either to New Orleans or Dallas to be processed before being returned to Mexico. The women were taken to the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center, it has been determined that they are U.S. citizens.
